Leadership & Operations

Gwen Moore actively leads all aspects of the Fund's programs and operations. An Advisory Board helps shape long-term goals.

The Fund's legal status is that of a donor-advised fund. Donor-advised funds are charitable funds administered by an approved third party—in our case, Give2Asia. A donor-advised fund is easier to set up and operate than a separate nonprofit entity, allowing us to keep our focus on our mission. Give2Asia is a tax-exempt charitable organization in the United States and gifts to the Gwen Moore Children of China Fund are tax deductible within the extent of the law.

Give2Asia's staff in Beijing, China, organize and oversee program efforts. Our partnership with Give2Asia ensures that the Fund can continue to respond to the changing situation in China, and do so with local resources who know the terrain—both figuratively and literally.

Advisory Board

Five individuals, plus the Fund's founder Gwen Moore, make up the Advisory Board. Board members meet quarterly by teleconference and bring a broad range of experience to the Fund's work. Collectively, Advisory Board members show what committed, like-minded individuals can accomplish when touched by the needs·of others, even those who live 3,000 miles away. While their backgrounds are diverse,·the Advisory Board members share a goal, as one member put it, "to make sure 'Gwen's dream' survives all of us!"
