Photo GallerySince the first visit to Guizhou Province, Luodian County in 1996, Gwen Moore has made four other trips to visit schools, children, teachers, school officials, and friends. She and her traveling companions have taken hundreds and hundreds of pictures during the five trips. This photo gallery gives you a glimpse of Luodian County and her people. Pictures will rotate from time to time and cover a wide range of subjects: schools, children and their families, the countryside, people at work, and school officials.
Visiting Children Helped by the FundYoujian Elementary SchoolIn 2009, Moore and her travel companions visited seven schools during our week in Luodian County, including Dong Wang and Youjian Elementary Schools whose students were among the first recipients of the Fund's help in 1996 and 1997.
Xia Chong Elementary SchoolDuring her 2005 visit, Moore and her travel companions visited Xia Chong Elementary School. It is one school where the Fund has supported children since 1999.
A Delightful SurpriseIn December 1995, Gwen saw the picture of a man and his two daughters in a New York Times article. For reasons she still does not fully understand, that picture inspired her action and the creation of the Children of China Fund. Until the 2009 trip, she had been unable to meet the man in the picture. But in 2009 she did! Read the story from the Fund's June 2009 "One Child at a Time" newsletter. Mr. Chen

Seeing a Women's Literacy Program in ActionWe visited a village where one of the women's literacy programs is delivered. We were welcomed by village elders, watched a class in action, were shown how cloth is woven, and were treated to truly home-cooked Chinese meal. Women's Literacy Program |
